Our corporate HR office issued an e-mail to all employees about a new training entitled “Diversity Awareness.” The required staff to attend this 3.5 day training ranged from the President & CEO to all management personnel. As the office manager of our division, I was required to attend these in-person classes.

As with most seminar-type training, the facilitator did an ice breaker. We each had to introduce ourselves, giving the vital and pertinent information. We were required to get acquainted with one another, as we would be a team during the entire training. We found out that the three of us were staying at the same hotel, so we made plans to have dinner together. After dinner, we decided to go for a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool.
