Sitting at my computer one morning, I heard knocking at my front
door which is two stories below.
I quickly remembered that a service tech was coming over to check
some outlets in both of the upstairs bathroom. I ran downstairs
with a towel around my waist and opened the front door. There stood
a slender guy no more than 19-20 years of age wearing a Quik Silver
t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. Logan introduced himself and stated
that he was here from a local service company to check and fix my
electrical outlets in the bathrooms. I excused myself temporarily
and ran up stairs to put on some shorts and t-shirt. As I walked
back downstairs, I thought to myself that he was awful young to
be an electrician. I invited him in the house. He asked if he needed
to take his shoes off. I looked down and noticed his red sneakers.
For a split second, I should have said yes, but didn't and said
no. I showed him the problem in the upstairs bathroom. As he unscrewed
the platlet, I noticed his red sneakers again and tried to imagine
what his barefeet looked like. As he examined the outlet, he noticed
the wires were fried and he would have to get a new one. As we walked
downstairs, I asked him his age. Logan said he was turning 20 in
a couple weeks and going to college. He worked for a friend's business
during the summer to earn some extra money. He excused himself and
walked outside to check in the truck. A few minutes later, he returned
and said that he would have to go to the local hardware store and
pick one up. He said he would be back in about a half hour. I closed
the door and smiled.
A day earlier, we had our carpets cleaned and the equipment and
supplies were still in the hallway. I quickly sprayed some stain
remover on the carpeted steps and brushed some of the stubborn stains.
I thought that if I got the carpet damp and to look like it had
been re cleaned that Logan would have to take his shoes off when
he returned.
I quickly went over the steps with the carpet cleaner and deep cleaned
the area a second time...it needed it anyway.Logan returned about
15 minutes later and knocked on the door. I opened the door and
invited him in again. I stopped him this time and explained that
I forgot that the carpet on the steps had just been cleaned and
I had to put some spray on them to keep the dirt from returning.
He said not a problem and kicked off his shoes and placed them against
the wall. As he started to follow me up the stairs, I mentioned
that the carpet was quite damp and that his socks may get wet. Logan
looked down at his stocking feet and lifted one leg, peeled off
his sock and threw it over next to his shoe. He did the same with
the other leg and sock. I glanced down and saw two beautiful, lightly
tanned barefeet...nicely pedicured with hardly any hair. He scrunched
his toes a bit as he followed me up the stairs this time barefoot.
Logan sighed as he reached the top of the stairs. He said it was
kinda of nice to be barefoot for a while. His boss, he explained,
has a strict dress code which includes wearing shoes at all times.
He went straight to work replacing the outlet. I sat on the tub's
edge and kept him company sneaking a peek once in a while at his
gorgeous feet. I noticed what seemed like a birthmark on the tip
of his second right toe. It wasn't ugly or anything, just unusual.
I got a closer look when Logan dropped his screwdriver and I retrieved
it for him. I bet all the girls go ga-ga over you at the pool or
beach huh...I said. Logan smiled and twitched his toes.
I guess so he said, but my feet (looking down) look awful. I hardly
ever go barefoot in public because of them. I told him that I disagreed.
His feet were good looking (I glanced down at them). He looked at
me strangely. Somewhat nervous, I quickly said while coughing that
his feet were normal and changed the subject. Logan finished working
on the electrical outlet and tested it. Everything looks good he
said. I said in reply but under my breath, that his barefeet looked
the best!
I walked him downstairs and as we entered the front hall, I grabbed
a damp rag. Walking barefoot on that treated carpet will make the
soles of your feet itch I said to him. With that, I picked his right
foot up and wiped his whole foot clean. I did the same with the
other one and even got between the toes.
After drying them both off, Logan thanked me. The bill would be
sent to me later he explained as he picked up his shoes and socks
and opened the door. Its too nice of day to wear shoes he said...I'll
put them on before I reach the office. He smiled and walked toward
his van, shoes and socks in hand and his beautiful barefeet touching
the ground. He got into his van and for a minute left the door ajar
with his left barefoot sticking out as he checked his next appointment.
What a great way to start the day I said to myself as the van drove
away...
